Roy Ribitzky

Hi, I’m Roy! I was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Israeli immigrants, but spent most of my childhood in Atlanta, Georgia. I’ve been privileged enough to travel around the world and experience just some of the many cultures this world has to offer. Over the years, I have found my passions in sports, music, fashion, politics, social justice, gender equality, and activism. When I look at what is going on around the world, I can’t help but write about it and try and inspire our generation and the next to build the world of our dreams. I’m not sure exactly what I want to do in the future, but I’m ready to set sail and see where the ocean takes me.

My Embrace of Feminism May 25, 2012 I may be a man, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be a feminist. Because being a feminist isn’t only for women. It isn’t about “giving men’s power away.” Feminism is the ideology of humanity, the conviction that men and women can coexist. comments (10)
Why Do We Love Guns So Much? April 9, 2012 Perhaps our obsession with carrying guns is due to our inability to communicate effectively. Our physical detachment from non-violent conflict resolution happened a long time ago; now we risk losing it emotionally. comments (3)
League of Opposition February 16, 2012 Despite its questionable human rights record, the Arab League is assuming the role of peace negotiator in its attempts to quell the bloodshed in Syria. U.S. and European cooperation with the Arab League on issues like these will pay off in the long run. comments (0)
Bargaining for Peace February 2, 2012 Have Jews and Arabs been fighting for thousands of years because they are destined to fight each other for eternity, or are they destined to become the epitome of reconciliation? That's for the people to determine. comments (1)
The President I Wanted January 11, 2012 If Obama loses his re-election bid, it will be devastating. In a twisted and sad way, Barack Obama is the leader we need for a better country, but not the one we want right now to bring about those changes. comments (2)
The University of Indifference December 19, 2011 In the last few weeks, the University of Massachusetts, Amherst has flexed its arrogance, incompetence, and indifference at the student body. But the student body is not so easily shrugged off, and we will make our voices heard. comments (4)
Does Sexual Assault Matter? November 28, 2011 Our culture is so devoid of the power of masculine and feminine synergy that we ask ourselves if raping someone is worse than having a losing season. Does sexual assault matter? Take a look around. comments (3)
The Religiosity of Contemporary Politics November 9, 2011 Why candidates insist on wearing their religion on their sleeves and promise to alter and introduce new laws based on Judeo-Christian law is beyond me. Is it possible to be good to others without following a pre-written doctrine? The answer is yes. comments (1)
