Hi Chloe, I'm so glad to see you keeping up what you started with First Here, Then Everywhere. I dropped in on your site while you were traveling and unfortunately got swamped with all the new stuff landing on us and never made it back.

The people of your generation are those I hope will engage and begin to lead in the efforts to reduce and halt the build up of atmospheric carbon. At the same time, adaptation efforts must begin now, and I'm hoping that a major part of the push will come from you folks as well. Your continued efforts here gives me hope that these things can happen.

Old codgers like me cannot be the leaders, we're not going to be around when it starts to become really bad (we all die sooner or later), so you and yours must learn how to deal with what's coming. My friends and I will do our best to help while we're still around.

As I commented to Me Me Mine (an Uber-Libertarian handle if I've ever seen one) earlier, it's real, and it's not too late to do something about it. And the one place I agree with Me Me Mine, be happy, and "and lead your generation with courage and optimism".

While national leaders in the U.S.A. dance around, "kicking the can down the road" with an eye to re-election, the Mayors and other Civic Leaders of the major cities are taking this seriously.

Planning groups are established to handle adaptation, requiring all new projects to accommodate the changes that have already shown themselves, and anticipate the future changes. Cities and regional governments have accepted what they see and can measure. They are doing their best to prepare but are hindered by the lack of consistent National standards.

So, the people are indeed responding, in spite of efforts by the "denier" community.

Your writings, your thoughts, and your real world efforts are helping this all happen. Keep going. You're still making a difference. I look forward to the next post in your series.

Warm Regards,

Larry Oliver

Just a side comment: Before 2010 the average increase in carbon gases was around 3% per year, making the 6% increase very, very significant.

Wake up! Even the occupywallstreet list of demands has no mention of climate change. Obama never even mentioned it in his state of the union address and this constant fear mongering leaves your generation just a pathetic and obedient herd of goose stepping Greenzis. You condemn our children to the greenhouse gas ovens with childish glee like fear mongering neocons. Can this helpless generation think for itself?Do you want to be a real rebel and a real radical? Well start questioning, doubting and challenging authority as that is what progressivism's job is. REAL planet lovers don't wish and hope for climate change to be real like some sick car accident rubber necker. REAL planet lovers are happy the CO2 fears were tragic exaggerations from lab coat consultants using it as a consultant's wet dream.Pollutions IS real but death for all from Human Monkey Gas is not. Be happy at least and lead your generation with courage and optimism, not like trailer trash afraid of the unknown.
