From Uganda: Uploading is a Chore
by Sam Tabachnik | Tulane University
Since uploading pictures takes about a week and a half here, I have avoided taking the time to include pictures. But I know the people are clamoring for some photos, and damnit if I don’t give the people what they want. So here are some shots: The LOL Express is obviously my favorite. It’s the express bus to comedy! I also enjoyed the juxtaposition of the new hotel and the broken down, half-built one next door. There are many examples of this throughout Uganda. The glasses I modeled were bought from a road-sode stand, and it just so happened the man had an extra pair. Naturally I had to pose with him, although he looks pretty unhappy about the whole thing. It was more for me, anyway. I also thoroughly enjoyed the sign that said “dumping, 50,000 fine” next to an entire field of trash. Wonder if those fines were given out.
